We make it possible for poor couples to have rich weddings

Weddings for Poor Couples

One of the noblest forms of Tzedakah is known as “Hachnosas Kallah,” ushering in a poor bride. Helping a poor young couple celebrate a proper wedding without assuming a crushing debt burden is a very special mitzvah indeed. By providing funding for weddings for poor couples without them being burdened by insurmountable debt, Colel Chabad undertakes a significant mission.

Weddings for Poor Couples: How Colel Chabad Helps

We take great pride in our dedication to assisting the less fortunate—one of our most impactful initiatives is our efforts to provide funding for weddings for poor couples.

The Gutnick & Luxenberg Wedding Halls

The opulent Gutnick and Luxenberg Wedding Halls, overseen by Colel Chabad, radiate an air of elegance akin to top-notch hotels and private catering establishments.

Introducing these wedding halls into the market has reduced wedding costs across the board, bringing financial relief to thousands of struggling families annually.

The Lowenthal Mobile Catering Truck

In another endeavor to extend our reach and support to rural communities, Colel Chabad operates the Lowenthal Catering Truck. This mobile catering facility was designed to bring celebrations closer to the underprivileged.

The truck boasts a fully-equipped setup, including:

  • Food
  • Refrigeration
  • Cooking stoves
  • Tables
  • Linens
  • Chairs
  • Dishes
  • Flatware

This initiative makes weddings for the poor accessible, fostering a sense of community and togetherness even in remote areas.

Accomplished So Far

Since its inception in 1998, Colel Chabad’s Gutnick and Luxenberg Wedding Halls have been an unyielding source of hope and joy for those in need. With an impressive track record, these twin wedding halls have hosted a remarkable 440 weddings annually, creating cherished memories for countless underprivileged couples.

Similarly, our Lowenthal Mobile Catering Truck, in operation since 2005, has brought the celebration to rural communities, facilitating 81 weddings yearly.

Through these initiatives, we have collectively saved impoverished families an astounding $2.075 million, relieving them from the burden of insurmountable wedding expenses.
